The first thing a candle maker should know is the choice of wax to be used. most candle makers use low quality wax. The two major types of wax employed most in the industry is the Beeswax and Paraffin. The beeswax makes a very high quality candle, however it is very expensive. The wax is the combs of bees where the honey is housed.

The most commonly used wax is the paraffin wax; a residue after refining crude oil. It is the choice of candle makers on a large commercial scale.
Towards making a good quality candle, most candle makers add little incense to the candle to give it a nice smelling fragrant when burnt.

In the past candle making was produced only at workshops but today, candles can be done even at home. You can make candles using different types of wax. You can begin with paraffin wax or beeswax. You will require a mold to get the desired shape and design of the candle. Candle making can be produced with very low investment. You can begin making candles from your old crayons or even from left over wax.

Remember that you will need a clean and clear room with ventilation. Dealing with melted wax can be quite dangerous and therefore utmost care must be taken while making candles. To begin with you will require a mold. The mold can be made of metal or glass or even waxed plastic. You can also opt for ready to use kits from the market.
